Pumpkin Patch in Pumpkin Hats

It seems like every year we don't have time to go to the Pumpkin Patch until the last weekend before Halloween. This year was no different and lucky for us - it wasn't raining!

After asking for some suggestions on facebook, and receiving multiple responses voting for Maris Farms, I checked out their website and thought it sounded so cool!

Clockwise from top left: 1) I'm not above bribing my boys with chocolate if it means they'll wear their hats. 2) Instead of a sand box, they had a corn box. It's kind of ingenious. 3) The box was kind of deep and they never quite got the hang of walking in it. They'd hold onto each other to save themselves from falling down and take their brother down with them. It was kind of hilarious. At least they weren't sticking corn kernels up their noses like another little girl was. 4&5) Why is it so impossible to get a good photo of all of them? In the first one, Bug's saying, "Smiiiiyyyyuh." Maybe I should photoshop the two photos together. I've done it before.

All day long people kept mentioning how cute their hats were. The thing I don't get though, is why people talk about them and not to us? When we were on the tractor ride (pictures 4&5) this happened:

Lady: Oh look at their cute hats.
Her teenage son: Yeah
Lady: How old do you think they are? I'd say somewhere between 2 and 3...probably closer to 3, yeah, I think they're close to 3.
Son: I donno.

I didn't butt in because she wasn't talking to us but I found the whole thing really weird - she was sitting right across from us.

Clockwise from left: 1) The boys didn't understand picking out pumpkins at first, after a lot of  "Which one do you want?" and "You get to take one home, show me which one." Peanut walked up to a pumpkin, made some grunting noises and said, "It's too heavy!" It's a weird, bubble little pumpkin but we took that one home. 2) Every year we put them in the wheelbarrow. Peanut's totally I'm chillin' whereas Bug kept saying, "I want out! I want down." 3) It's a miracle I got to be in a picture with both of them smiling!

We really debated about going to Maris Farms because it's 30+ minutes away and they charge admission to get in and then also charge for your pumpkins. Even though the boys had fun, I think we should have waited a year or two before coming because the biggest reason I wanted to go was so they could use the ginormous bouncy pillow and they were just a bit too young, I think. We seem to be making a tradition of going to a different pumpkin patch each year so maybe we'll try a different one next year too. Maybe I'll set a crazy goal of attending each patch within a 30mile radius before the boys grow up and move out....'cause you know at 18 we'll still be going to the pumpkin patch as a family!

What's also crazy is how much they've grown since we went to the patch last year and the year before.
