Another Addition to the Fam

My cousin finally had her baby! 8 days late her little bundle of handsomness graced us with his presence. She had him at home completely natural, how cool is that?!

And I had an epiphany.

I remember being so annoyed that people were texting B mere minutes after 10:30am because they knew  my c-section was scheduled for that time. My facebook was blowing up with people wanting to know the Bambinos's names thus making my phone blow up. My dad walked into the room twice even though we told everyone to wait until B came out to get them. He walked in once after they checked my catheter and once after I had been trying to breast feed. Neither one of those are sights I want my dad to see. By the time we let people come in and see the boys, and sharing in the initial happiness, I just wanted them to go away because I was exhausted and wanted to nap*. (Anyone who thinks they're going to get sleep in a hospital is cray-zay!)

After checking my two cousins' facebook pages 5837294817 the last week yesterday for updates, I understand what it's like to be so excited to find out about this new little life that you want to meet. You want to see what he looks like, what they named him, you want to know everything about him. I finally understood what the people on the other side of the phone and facebook felt like.

Before anyone gets their panties in a bundle: if you were at the hospital, sorry, but I felt this way for about 10 minutes. I woke up at 4am with excitement and had major surgery, of course I was tired. But I got over it and am so happy you all made it to the hospital. I was mostly annoyed at the people texting B at 10:40am and on. Let us enjoy or new family for a second!

Don't forget! The Mini Threads link up is happening a week from tomorrow! I'd be thrilled for you to participate. If you don't have kids, put together an outfit you would put them in if you did. Show off your mini-me's style!

By far my most popular print.

I love Dr. Seuss.
My boys hear this all the time.

More Dr. Seuss

The Trouble With Names

B uses an alias.

B's name is Ben*. Kind of. A few dates in, he mentioned that Marshall is not his real last name. For some reason, I didn't ask what his real last name was. I was telling my sister that I didn't know his last name so she started calling him Ben Button (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button had just come out.) We had some good laughs about that.

A week or so later he told me that his last name is Benton. He's adopted, so I thought his parents named him  Ben Benton! Can you imagine?! These two people get to pick a name and they choose Ben Benton!?!

About six weeks into our relationship, we were at dinner and B says to me, ".....well, you know, my nieces call me Uncle Ben."
"As opposed to what?!" I asked.
"Why would they call you Joe?"
"Because that's my name," he said so nonchalantly.
So, six weeks into our relationship. I found out I didn't know my boyfriend's real name. My response? "Who are you?!" he laughs, "Is there anything else I should know?"

Turns out that he never really felt like a Joe and in high school he was doing an impression of some TV character named Ben so his friends started calling him that. When he got into radio in college, they made up radio names so he chose Ben Marshall. He thinks of himself as Ben Marshall and the only people who call him Joe are his mom and two sisters. In fact, people that he's been friends with 10+ years just found out his real name at the Super Bowl party we attended.

*I don't want to give away identifying info so I' used names that are similar but still aliases.

Don't forget!  The Mini Threads link up is happening again a week from Thursday. If you don't have kids, you can still link up! Show us an outfit you would put them in if you had kids. More info can be found here. It'll be really embarrassing if nobody participates again so spread the word, or at least link up. Please?

Lindsay Loves: Denim

You know how everyone has a fetish? Some people like handbags, others like cardigans or diamonds, and others like shoes? Mine's jeans. Don't get me wrong, I love me a hot pair of heels (and sneakers too) but my big weakness is jeans.

I think it's kind of weird because most people don't even notice the jeans others wear every day, but I can't help it. When I see a pair I like, it's like it calls to me, pulls me to it and ensnares me with it's denim talons. If I walk away from multiple items that day, I will continue thinking about the jeans and not any shirts or dresses I may have left behind.

I gave our former nanny's daughter 12+ pairs of nice jeans a few months ago, but I still have at least 15 pairs. But.....

I'm in desperate need of clothes. It's been a long time since I've spent any money on cute clothes so I've been keeping an eye out lately. I saw these ones a few days ago and haven't been able to get them off my mind.

7 for All Mankind Rachel Bellbottoms. They were named after Rachel Zoe after she wore their Ginger jeans on her show last season.

I've always loved wide leg jeans, I'm so happy they're coming back. I wear skinnies with boots and sometimes heels, but they don't look the best on me. Wide legs hide my hips.

The Erin Trouser
See what I mean? You can probably barely tell the difference, but I'm having a hard time deciding between the three pairs. I love the dark wash of the Rachel, but I don't like the way it looks when she sits down in them. It's a little too big. But then I remind myself, I can't see myself  when I sit so it shouldn't really matter.

Is it bad that I'm postponing family pictures until I figure out which pair I want? I probably won't even end up wearing them in the pictures. What I really need is tops, and bras. On that note, where's your favorite place for bras? I'm kind of disenchanted with Victoria's Secret.

My link up was a bust. It's still open until Sunday so if you want to link up you can, but I've decided I'm not going to let this discourage me. I think I'm going to try again in two weeks.(March 8th) You can participate even if you don't have kids! Just find an outfit you would put them in if you had kids. Please tell me I'm not the only one who'd look at kids stuff before I had kids?

Also, have you liked Lilo Prints on facebook? If you have - I love you! If not, you should 'cause I'm randomly giving away a free print on the 29th

Mini Threads

I'm so excited for this link up! If you follow me on Twitter, you know I've been super nervous about whether or not anyone would join. I hope you have fun clicking around and checking out where everyone gets their Mini's clothes.

This is an oldie but a goodie. I blogged about the day here
Lovebug's smile gets me here. He's such a happy little guy.
I try not to dress the Bambinos too matchy matchy, but they're usually in coordinating and very similar outfits.

Onesie - Old Navy, they were a gift at my baby shower
Vests - Old Navy - I had a very similar one.
Jeans - Baby Gap
Slippers - The Children's Place

I can't wait to visit you and see where you get clothes for your mini. Most of the Bambinos' clothes come from the same couple of stores.

Here's the button if you want to post it!

Lindsay Loves: Zulily

It's no secret that I have a love affair for shopping. These days, most of my shopping is for the Bambinos which I'll share in tomorrow's link up, but I recently ordered myself a coat from Zulily and I love it!

I like this picture better but I had to take it in the work bathroom this morning.
I shake too much for me to get a clear picture without flash but at least you can kind of see the length. I was worried about buying something sight-unseen that I couldn't return but I'm so glad I purchased this! It's nice and thick and good quality. Not that you can tell by the pictures, but it fits so well!

The best part is, the coat is normally $90, it was on sale for $30, but I signed up using a different email so when I purchased the coat, my original account was credited $1. It's kind of like I only paid $15 for it!

I haven't ordered any clothes for the Bambinos yet (they seem to have cuter girl stuff which is probably a good thing for me) but I've ordered toys and a ton of books, and even a voucher for my Erin Condren planner!

Being from the Pacific Northwest, I think this onesie is adorable. They have the best stuff, see?

The only trick is each sale last only a few days so if you see something you like, you'd better snatch it up fast. I wish I had joined Zulily when I was pregnant because they seem to have really awesome deals on maternity wear.

If you haven't signed up yet, do it here, go now!

Don't forget this tomorrow!

Working Out

I've gotten back on the bandwagon. I found the best inspiration on Pinterest yesterday, this Tumblr has tons of fitness and nutrition inspiration, I could literally get lost for hours in it.  It's kind of like everything I'd want to know all in one place. It's full of eating tips, tricks, and recovery suggestions ('cause I mess up and binge once in awhile.)
Did this one this morning! Best exercise to work on love handles.

Of course I want to lose the baby weight I've gained back, but mostly it's about being healthy. I'm trying to convince B that just because we eat food at home that does not mean it's healthy. Until I can accomplish this, I'm Shredding and will probably be doing the treadmill at work when on my lunch break. I just feel better when I work out, I'm in a better mood all day, I have more energy and looking better helps too :)

When I want to give up, I think back to how I felt right before I found out I was pregnant. I was working out at least 45 min. a day, shredding, running on the treadmill, and feeling fabulous. I was sleeping better too.

I did the Shred twice a few weeks ago and then twisted my knee so I took about a week & a half off. I started up again Thursday and, so far, I only rested on Sunday. Pretty proud of myself because I'm at the point where when my alarm goes off at 5am, I know I'll feel guilty if I don't work out so I get up without hesitation. This night owl needs her morning sleep so getting up without hesitation is huge for me.

Mama Says: Walking & Link Up

I had plans for a better Mama  Says post but life happened this weekend. AND Peanut took two steps towards me yesterday! So proud of my big boy.

He's been gaining confidence since taking those steps and has taken one towards me a few other times. This morning he tried to walk over to the couch but wasn't quite steady enough. I'm not in a hurry for them to grow up, but I kind of can't wait for them to walk because they're so short and it'd be cute. But, I know that will mean more chaos since they'll get around even quicker than crawling.

If you didn't see my post Friday, a new link up is starting this Thursday. You get to show off your kids' style! I'm really worried that no one will join so it would be really fantastic if you grabbed the button and spread the word. It would be even more fantastic if you joined me.

Valentine's Surprise

B gave me the best Valentine's surprise yesterday.

No, it wasn't a ring.

The guy I share an office with came in and made up some excuse to shut our door a little. He proceeded to call a contest winner when I heard a little "Umph,"outside my door. I've never jumped up from my desk and opened the door so fast. B and another co-worker were trying to hide as they helped the Bambinos stand in my doorway but Peanut talked and ruined the surprise.
I'm working later now and I've been having a really hard time with it. I barely get to see my Bambinos and it's killing me.

He even had them in custom onesies, never mind the fact that he used their only two good and thick ones that I use as a layering shirt and not just under clothes, it's the thought that counts.

This is the best pic I could get of my three boys. They do not want to sit still anymore.

What did B get?
Please excuse the phone pic. Idea via

a la Pinterest. As I stated in our Love Story post last week, I'm not a huge Valentine's Day person, with it being so close to our birthdays I don't really care about presents and would rather do something together....although I will be making more of an effort to decorate as the boys get older.

How was your Valentine's Day?

Best Potato Bake

You guys! This is seriously the best potato bake I've ever had. B originally made it for the Super Bowl party we went to but I made it again last weekend just so I could blog about it.

It's that good.

Let me tell you, the first time B made it, I went to bed early and was seriously tempted by the delicious smells coming from our kitchen. I didn't expect something that he was only prepping the night before to smell so good. It tastes good too.

3lbs potatoes halved and thinly sliced
1 kielbasa thinly sliced
2 cups shredded parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon salt
milk to cover potatoes
4 sprigs parsley
3 sprigs oregano
1 sprig rosemary
1 bay leaf
2 tablespoons butter
Sea salt
1 cup heavy cream
freshly ground black pepper

I only used 1/2 or less of the kielbasa, I'm not a huge fan
We ended up using two bags of pre-shredded parmesan cheese so 3 cups total
The first time B made it, he used fresh herbs, but then he accidentally knocked them out of the fridge and onto the floor. This time, we used dried herbs and just dumped a bunch in.
We didn't use pepper either

1. Heat Oven to 375 (next time we need to do 350, I think our oven runs hot.)
2. Skin potatoes and put them in a large pan with the milk, herbs, 1 tablespoon of butter, and some salt. Bring to a boil then turn down the heat and simmer until the potatoes are just tender. Drain

3. Grease a 9x13in. baking dish with one tablespoon of butter.
4. Mix cheese and cream in a bowl.

5. Spread half the potatoes and half the kielbasa in the bottom of the dish, then cover with half the cheese.

6. Bake until golden 50-60minutes. (We did 40, and it was a bit too brown on the top.)

But you know what? Even with the top too brown, this is delicious. It's the perfect blend of cheese and potatoes. You could add in onions or even bacon.

Heartbreak & Tears

I took this picture of Lovebug last week. He had been playing with my phone and Peanut took it away. He got it back after I quit snapping pictures but for those 30 seconds, having that phone taken away was the most heartbreaking thing that had ever happened to him.

The worst thing that's ever happened to him is his brother taking a toy away. That is pretty fantastic.

Now if only I could keep it that way.
