Lindsay Loves: Get Primered

Funny how most of these Lindsay Loves posts are all beauty products, huh?

I guess you could say I'm a beauty junkie.

I can't even remember how, but I got a free, full sized Smashbox Photo Finish More than Primer Dark Spot Correcting face primer. <-say strike="strike" that="that">one
two times fast!

I'm in luuuurve!

I used to be tanorexic (but never orange) so I have a lot of sun damage on my face.

Once upon a time, I thought, Cute! I'm getting light freckles! I didn't realize it was sun damage.

I haven't used this long enough to see a reduction of dark spots, but I love the primer portion of it - and it's oil free! I've mentioned before I used to have some acne.

As someone who has not yet kicked the bad habit of resting her face in her hands, I'd always find I'd rubbed my makeup off in some spots but it doesn't happen anymore! I used to say that by the end of the day my "face had melted off," but now I still look like I have makeup on and it hasn't settled into every nook and cranny either. I will definitely be purchasing this after my "sample" is out.

Full disclosure: I used a Benefit primer years ago and liked it but wasn't sure it was necessary, so I quit. I have not used a primer in years so I wouldn't say I'm a primer junkie. You know I love this when I'm actually admitting I'll buy another one when I'm out.

The other primer I love is the Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion

Urban Decay was pretty smart in including the sample size of this with my Naked Pallette. With this primer, I don't get the eyelid crease half way through my day - my makeup looks almost as good as it does when I leave in the morning by the time I return home.  I haven't noticed a ton of migrating either which can always be a problem with eye makeup. The only thing I don't like about it is there's no applicator like there is in the sample, so I use the one from my sample to apply it - I don't want my fingers soaking it all up.

Full disclosure: I've tried all kinds of primers. I've tried different things that MAC people suggest, I've tried cheap ones; I've tried expensive ones, so I would say I've been on the hunt for the perfect eye makeup primer and so far, this one wins hands down.

Do you use primers? Are there any other ones I must try?

  3. You are the third person to talk about the Smashbox Photo Finish... I think it's time for a shopping trip. I want to dump out my whole makeup bag and start fresh. :)

  4. I used to love primers, especially smashbox. until Bobbi Brown bb cream changed my life this past month. For real. When I did my face totally, I would use primer, foundation, concealer under my eyes and set the whole shebang with poweder. Now, I ONLY use the bb cream and my face looks infinitely better. Seriously, since I started using it, random people tell me I have great skin. You should definitely look into one. I love the Bobbi Brown version and I've also heard good things about Dr. Jart, but pretty much every line has one now. The cream stays all day and even though I have combination skin, I stay pretty matte all day long. It really is a miracle cream.

In addition to how great it makes my skin look, it also cut my makeup routine tremendously. I only put the ONE product on my face, mascara, blush and go! I know I sound like an ad for the stuff, but I love it that much.

  5. I've never bought a primer, although tried a few, but I know EXACTLY what you mean about my face melting off at the end of the day (and I have moderate to bad acne, so I NEED that coverage!) and I think I will have to try this, esp if oil free!
