Eat Clean Train Dirty

The amount of crap in our food scares me. For months now, I've been trying to figure out how to incorporate more fresh fruit and vegetables in my diet. Once I started working out, I've been doing a pretty good job at it, but I knew there was more I needed to do. I've lost weight since I started working out but all too often, we'd make a dinner of frozen pizza, bar food from Doofers or some other less than stellar food.

I've been toying around with the idea of eating clean for awhile because I know that the amount of toxins, that we now put in our bodies has grown exponentially compared to our food 50 years ago. I became completely convinced after I saw a photo of a high school classmate on facebook. She only started eating clean two months ago and her body has really changed. She was never big or overweight before, but now she's smokin'. That sealed the deal for me.

I've been eating ok, but I've lost the same two pounds probably 10 times (no joke.) I do so well during the week but then fall of the healthy train during the weekend causing me to start losing the two pounds on Monday that I had lost the week before. Sugar is my nemesis.

I thought convincing B would be a challenge but he was surprisingly on board with it - for a month.  I'm hoping he'll feel so good that he'll agree to make this our lifestyle. He's totally willing to eat more fruit and veggies, but he's not convinced we need organic meat, I'm hoping my plan works and he feels a difference.

My biggest fear is that I'm too picky. I have major texture issues with food, but I'm hoping I get over it.

So here I am, week one of eating clean. I can't believe I'm posting this so please be nice. I'm only doing this to keep myself accountable, and I'll post more pictures at the end of our month "trial period."
I've been reading a bunch about what foods I can and cannot eat, but I'm debating on picking up Tosca Reno's cookbook. Has anyone tried it? Is it worth purchasing? Do you have favorite clean recipes to share?


  1. You look amazing for having twins! And im in the same boat....i eat lots of healthy food ...but in addition i eat lots of not-so-healthy foods...Im going to switch little by little to organic..hopefully LOL

  5. YOU ARE SO SKINNY AND TONED. I'm all about eating well, but you don't need to lose a single ounce. Seriously--I think women in this country (myself included!) are trained to believe that we always need to/should lose weight, but it's a fallacy. You look gorgeous.

    I eat a mix of really healthy and really not. I am a vegetarian and I love veggies, so I eat lots of them, but I also like veggie burgers & fries. :)

    Seriously. It will even make you sleep better.

    I have been thinking about doing it again, too. But for a runner, it's not really "recommended".

  7. You look amazing already girl! I started doing fruit&spinach smoothies in the morning, on the recommendation of several bloggers. They are delicious...you cannot taste the spinach at all. Good luck girl :)
