Post-Pregnancy Joys

via
Yesterday my hair started falling out.
And I mean falling out in huge chunks.
I put Marakesh Oil on my hair after every time it gets washed
and end up with a fistful of hair in return.

I've heard this would happen.
I guess it's just my body's way of returning back to normal
I hope that doesn't mean my annoying friend will be returning soon too.

And okay body,
if you're returning back to normal,
how about you return back to my pre-pregnancy weight too?
This 15 pounds is killing me.

Don't forget about the Book Swap!
I really hope you join us!

So What Wednesday

It's So What Wednesday!

So what if I became  prefered member at Lovers last week just so I could get what I needed half off.
I had to get something for an event at work the next day and the gift card my boss gave me wouldn't have covered it otherwise.

So what if I was completely freaked out by the hot pink peens surrounding me in the store
They we're like 10inches!

So what if I'm still making fun of my co-worker because he thought a pocket rocket was an insect.

So what if I drug Boyfriend to Whole Foods last night just so we could buy brown rice, avocados and peas.
I want the Bambino's first baby food to be as healthy as possible.

So what if Boyfriend snuck a toffee bar into the cart and I've almost eaten the whole thing.

So what if I washed and dried all the parts of my Baby Bullet even though I don't plan on using it until this weekend.
I'm super excited to use it.

Don't forget about the Book Swap!
I really hope you join us!

A Blogger Book Swap!

At the suggestion of Meli Faif, I bought a certain book.
After I finished reading it,
I thought that I'd really like to pass it on to another blogger (or blog reader)
but I didn't want to do another giveaway.
 And with that -
The Blogger Book Swap was born!

We all have books laying around the house that we'd be willing to part with, right?
(Or you have a store nearby where you can purchase a book.)
Why not pass that book onto another blogger?
(or blog reader)

I asked the  fabulous Claire from Bicoastally to co-host and she said yes!
So....
Here's the way it will work:
Email either: UndomesticChica@gmail.com
or
KieferClaire@gmail.com
your address by May 30th
...please also include your blog name if you have a blog

On the 31st, we'll post the swap partners
and send you their address (privately - of course!)

You'll send your book (or two books) to your partner between the 31st and June 4th

And on June 8th, Claire and I will hold a link party
so everyone can check out the amazing books we all received.

It would be really awesome if all of you participated
and grabbed the button to spread the word-
the more the merrier!

The book(s) you swap can be any book you've read and loved,
one you think your partner would love
basically there are no rules....
(except for the date guidelines above)

But I think it'd be really cool if you keep in mind
that certain books are super popular right now
waterforelephants
So those may not be the best choices
but really, it's up to you.

Please play along!

Drive-In

Happy Monday Friends!
Monday is not my favorite day,
but let's just hope it's the start to an awesome week.

I love being a parent.
The only thing is,
I keep forgetting that we can't see movies like we used to.
I'll see a preview and think,
"Oh, I want to see that, we should go."
So I haven't seen any movies since before the Bambinos were born.

So Friday night, we all took a nap
and then we headed to the local drive in.

Bridesmaids was playing first......
Maybe it's just 'cause I was tired
(I worked a looong shift at the station the night before
and was existing off 3 hours of sleep)
but it wasn't as funny as everyone said.
It was funny,
but I guess I expected more.

I have a feeling
when I get it on DVD and watch it again,
I'll appreciate it much more.
I'm sure it didn't help
that Eli decided to be a night owl and wake up
so we were distracted by him too

Luckily, Ethan was passed out in the back seat

Finally, Fast Five came on
I wish they would have played it first.
I enjoyed the movie,
Love me some Paul Walker!
but I still think the first movie is  still my favorite.
I thought going to the drive in would be a good idea,
but....
I don't think I enjoyed the movies
as much as I would have in the theater.
And
our schedule was messed up the whole day after.
Seriously, we slept off and on
until 3pm the next day.

Do You Flokati

Our house needs rugs bad.
I feel like rugs (and curtains) really finish a room off
and add that final exclamation point to a room.

With hardwood floors and babies that will be crawling in a few months
I've been scouring the internet for rugs for the nursery and the living room.
I like the look of flokati and have read so much about them on other blogs
that when I found a company willing to send me color samples
I couldn't wait until they showed up in the mail.
via

Except, now I'm not so sure.
They're nice and fluffy
but seem kind of rough
I'm not sure it's something I'd like to sink my feet into every day
or let the babies crawl around on.

Which brings me to my question:
Do you floakati?
Are they softer than the samples seem?
Do they somehow soften up over time?

via

I love the look of them but am just not sure....
I want something big and fluffy
I'm even considering shag
Thoughts?

Disco Nails

Anyone who follows me on twitter has already seen this pic but
the Sally Hansen nail strips are not as easy to use as everyone says!
I decided to give them a whirl Sunday morning
I started with my toes in case I really messed them up
no one would see them

Maybe starting with my toes was a bad idea
I used the biggest ones first
so then I had to stretch quite a few to fit my fingers.
(It's pretty cool you can stretch them)

I didn't get the ones on my fingers nearly as perfect as my toes,
and it was time consuming!

I enjoy the overall look
but I'm not sure how I feel about them on my toes.
For some reason, I kept calling them my disco toes.
Poor Boyfriend kept hearing,
"Don't step on my disco toes."
or
"I bumped a disco toe."

I didn't stretch some of them enough
so on one thumb, I had to add another strip
and get the design lined up prefectly.
Today my boss told me I'm patient
I think I'm obsessive.

Weekend Wrap Up: 21st Birthday

My little sister is 21!
I absolutely can't believe it;
I remember the day she was born.

How weird my parents must feel that their baby is already 21.
I mean, I feel weird that my babies are already 4 months old.

We celebrated my little sister by going out to dinner to the Cheesecake Factory
She got presents
How cute is she?! She'll probably kill me for putting this up, but I think she's adorable.

I don't think I've ever shared this but my sister is one of my favorite people in the world.
We're both stubborn (she more than I) so when we fight, we fight bad.
Luckily, it doesn't happen often.
She also happens to have the best sense of humor.
Mostly, we just laugh and laugh together.
I'm so incredibly lucky that she can stay with the Bambinos while I'm at work.

My Dad couldn't just leave the Bambinos in their carseats
so he and my step mom took turns holding them

Peanut flirted 'cause that's what my little Peanut does.
I just realized how much my Dad looks like his Dad, my Papa, in this picture.
I get my cheeks from my Dad and Peanut gets them for me so.... I guess Peanut looks like my Papa?

My little Lovebug is usually a little more discriminating with his smiles, but eventually he flashed one.

I'm so glad we were able to get together and celebrate my sister's birthday - especially with cheesecake!

(Btw, I got the white chocolate raspberry truffle and it was uh-mazing!)

Turntabilism

How cool is this?!
via
And it converts your records to an mp3 format!

I remember plenty of days dancing around our apartment to Elvis or Buddy Holly when I was little
with my mom warning me, "Don't jump too much, the record will skip."
But I couldn't help it.
Dancing's in my blood
In fact, my parents met when my dad was teaching disco classes!

How Time Flies

My bambinos turned four months old yesterday!
I cannot believe that four short months ago I was in the hospital having my babies.
The "photo shoot" started out like this
My little Lovebug was not a happy camper
The poor little guys had their four month check up
(with shots)

I think Bug was a little more affected by them

It doesn't help that we ran some errands after their appointment.
Then I gave them both baths
by this point, Bug was exhausted

Finally, I was able to get this shot
Bug's practically slumped over sleeping
but he's not asleep quite yet.

Every time I tried to straighten him out, he'd freak

What was my little Peanut doing this whole time?
Talking to me of course!

First Mother's Day

My Mother's Day started out horribly.
I woke up sick
And I was mad at boyfriend
Basically, I placed an expectation on the day
and on Boyfriend
and my morning didn't live up to my expectation
so I was grumpy.

And here's where you'll realize how nuts I am....
Boyfriend works out every Sunday at 7am.
Yesterday he left even earlier
so he could be back in time for brunch.

When the babies started screaming and Boyfriend wasn't there,
I started to get mad.
He should have been here
And I should have been allowed to sleep in
the day should have been special
It was my first Mother's Day!
The day should have been special
and it wasn't.

But I didn't even know I felt that way until I woke up yesterday
and the babies started screaming.

If I had told Boyfriend on Saturday that I wanted to sleep in,
he would have stayed home and let me sleep.
And now I feel crazy
for even getting mad at him in the first place!

We went to brunch with my mom and sister
and I ate entirely too much.
My sister gave me some pretty flowers

and then we stoppedby my Grandma's.
My dad & step-mom happened to stop by too.

At home I got to take a short (very short) nap with Eli
I think it was the highlight of my day.

Then Boyfriend's family came over
and we ate pizza with them.

If I learned anything from yesterday
It's not to place expectations on a holiday
or on people.
There's know way they'll live up to them
if I don't verbalize my expectations.

How was your day?

Remember how I said I went shopping after our Rob Dyrdek fail?
It happened by accident actually.
I wanted a postcard to send to a certain bloggy buddy
I bought what I wanted and gravitated to a store across the way.
Weisfield Jewelers

One jewelry store turned into another
I found ones I liked, but none that I loved.
I couldn't find a stone dark enough
I almost thought I would have to buy one
and then order a different stone.

Eventually my back started hurting
from carrying Ethan in the bjorn for so long
and carrying the diaper bag.

Just as we were about to walk out the doors,
I made one last stop.
and found the one
It has a square, dark stone
just like I wanted.

Is it tacky that I bought myself a Mother's Day present?
Maybe.

I almost didn't buy it.
I feel kind of guilty
because I feel like the money could be spent on other things
But I've wanted a garnet ring for so long
and now garnets have even more meaning to me.

But you know what?
I carried my babies
for 38 weeks
I didn't sleep for months
My body swelled
My hands fell asleep
I couldn't breathe
But it was all worth it
and I deserved this

Rob Dyrdek Fail

via
Rob Dyrdek is in town for Street League Skateboarding Tour.
My sister sent me an email that he would be doing an autograph signing at the local mall
so we thought it would be funny to ake the babies and go.

Boyfriend and I are not normally jersey chasers,
celebrities don't really phase us
(okay maybe T.I would....or Lupe Fiasco)
via

But we're all fans of Rob & Big
we still watch reruns all the time
eventhough they've both moved on to Fantasy Factory.

We packed the babies up,
my sister drove back over to my house
and the five of us treked to the mall.

We got there an hour before the signing
only to be told they weren't letting any more people line up.
They'd already accepted 500 people
and only 300 would get in.
At which point Eli started crying
as if on cue.

We were all kind of disspointed but I decided to shop instead
I mean, I can't wast a trip to the mall, right?

So What Wednesday III

So what if I want to crawl under my desk and take a nap
or better yet
So what if I want to go home
So what if I'm about to snap somebody's head off
Don't mess with me*
So what if I chose not to work out this morning (or at all this week)
I really need to pump instead.
So what if I think I'm going to buy myself a Mother's Day present this weekend
I really want this particular one.
So what if I want a mini Blizzard
but I'm trying to keep the craving away since I still haven't started working out.
So what if I didn't start working out May 1st like I told myself I would
There's still time
Nobody sees my legs except me anyway.
So what if I'm practically counting down the minutes to Friday
I need a weekend really really badly (or is it bad?)
So what if i don't know if it's badly or bad.
So what if I'm in a really bad mood.
via
Happy Hump Day! That's one good things I can say about my morning.
We're closer to Friday than Monday now!

I Hope I Don't Kill 'Em

My flowers that is!
Sunday was the nicest day Seattle has had in a loooong time
so I planted geraniums, pansies, and calla lilies

There's only one small problem

I'm undomestic.
I kill everything.

A few years ago I picked up the one plant that's supposed to be indestructable
bamboo
I didn't even really want bamboo, I just wanted to grow something
anything.
And keep it alive

Fast forward a few months later
my luscious green bamboo was half yellow-brown, half green
it was half dead.

How I ended up killing the part that actually sucks up the water
and keeping the top of the plant alive is beyond me
I'm special like that.

Sunday when I went to Lowe's for flowers,
I picked some that are supposed to be hardy and low maintenance
I hope I don't kill 'em!
