The Day Teddy Ran Away

I'm not sure I've professed my love for Teddy enough.  He was my first baby, my first puppy, the first time I took total responsibility for something. He's been around longer than B.

Wednesday afternoon I got a text from the new nanny asking if the painters were supposed to stop by to look at the house, because the gate was  left open, Teddy got out and she looked for him for 35 minutes before the neighbor around the corner found him and returned him.

With a pounding heart, I read the text to Boyfriend before he left work. He seemed a little blasè about it and told me we can't blame the painters.

But oh we can.

TWICE I've found the gate open after they've left and have told B so he could mention it to them. I didn't want to call and yell at them for losing my dog, I wanted them to be aware they have been leaving our gate open and to be more careful. They have a habit of coming over to work without letting us know and sometimes they just stop by to check on something so we don't even know they're coming or have been here. Otherwise, the nanny would have checked the gate herself.

Of course, this caused a big talk between me and B (it really wasn't a fight) so he did call the painters and ask them to be more careful and I came up with my own solution:

These signs will be on each side of our gate, if people still don't close it after them, there's no hope for them after all.

Thank you all for your kind words on Wednesday's post. I know I'm a good mom, I just feel like I should have known, like it should have been common sense. I'm feeling better about it now. Happy Friday, friends!
