Confession and a Solution

I've never shared that I have bad skin. It embarrasses me, really. It's not nearly as bad as it had been but it's still not fabulous and luminous no matter how many hundreds of dollars I spend on products.

The summer after I turned 24, and, ironically, a few months after I started working at a clinical skincare place, my face broke out.

It wasn't all over my face, but I had a ton of these tiny little bumps on my cheeks and one patch in particular on my left cheek was pretty bad.  I was so embarrassed, I never pulled my hair back, I wore a ton of make up to try and cover it up, etc. The odd thing was, I was using mineral make up and using GOOD products. I was moisturizing, exfoliating, wearing sunscreen - everything I should be doing.

I finally found a combination of products that worked for me and my face got a lot better. So I was terrified to learn I was pregnant and had to stop using my products. Of course, all of my "treatment" products had either salicylic acid, glycolic acid or benzoyl peroxide which I was pretty sure I had to stop using.

And then I remembered Belli. I originally heard of Belli through my workplace and now they advertise through my radio station. Belli is a line of products where every product is deemed safe to use while pregnant. I had used a body exfoliator (not pregnant) and loved it so I bought the lactic acid face wash and stretch mark oil.

Even before I knew I was having twins, I bought the stretch mark oil hoping to avoid stretchmarks. While the facial wash has pretty much saved my face, I can say though that my skin likes salicylic and glycolic better. The stretch mark oil I like but am not completely in love with. I use it a few times a week and use baby lotion a few times a week. The oil is very oily ( I know, what did I expect?) and I don't love the smell. Even though I haven't actually gotten sick, my stomach is still very sensitive.

The best thing about Belli is their customer service. Upon receiving my package, I found that my face wash had leaked during the shipping process. I emailed them and told them my face was breaking out too bad to return it, but I wanted them to know it leaked. I didn't hear anything back and figured they didn't care. About a week later, I received another full-size face wash in the mail at no cost!

I was floored. And will definitely keep ordering their products. The best part is, they're not only a pregnancy line, they have a motherhood and baby line too. Like I said, I used an exfoliator of theirs way before I got pregnant. And my readers can click on the image to the right, enter promo code Belli09 and get 15% off your purchase. For a limited time, they also have free shipping on orders over $50!

Boyfriend's Reaction

Sorry if I'm boring you with the baby talk , but this blog has always been kind of a visual diary for me. So Monday after we found out we were having twins, the Dr said to Boyfriend, "You seem pretty calm, are you okay?" See, I was giggling, and smiling and talkative whereas B was calm. But that's just him. It used to kind of bother me that I'd have to guess what he's thinking but I know now when he's processing something he's quiet and doesn't say much.

After the ultrasound, I still had to go to the lab so I could get my blood work done. While in the waiting room, B turned to me with a goofy smile and said, "You're going to get so big." I couldn't help but laugh.

"That's what you're the most excited for?!" He told me of course that's not what he's most excited for, but it will be fun and funny to watch me get so big.

And I was hoping to avoid stretchmarks.

We called my mom over and over so I could show her the pictures and tell her but she didn't answer her phone. We went to my dad's house where I didn't say anything but just laid down the pictures for my sister to see. "There's two? I knew it!" Was her reaction. I'd felt like I was bigger than I should be at 9 weeks but I thought I was just further along than I thought....she kept telling me it was twins.

Finally, at almost bedtime my mom called me back and B and I whispered back and forth about whether I should tell her on the phone. Finally, he said to do it and I told my mom to which she said, "Did B tell you to say that?!" B's quite the goofy guy who likes to entertain everybody so she thought he was playing a joke on her. She was excited but I think it really hit her when I texted her a picture of them. she's been wanting to be a grandma, but now she gets double the fun :)

There's Something in the Water

It seems like everyone's pregnant around Blog Land. This girl, this girl, this girl, this girl and THIS GIRL!!!

Remember when almost a month ago I said I had some exciting news but couldn't share it yet? I pretty much stayed away from my blog because I was dying to tell you that I'm having a baby!
I thought I was going to have to wait until almost the end of August to tell you because then I'd be in my second trimester and I would have told all my family in Eastern Washington but I had my first ultrasound last Monday and instead of being 9 weeks along, the doctor put me at about 12-13. And......
It's Twins!!!!!
Getting pregnant at all  was a surprise ( I was on the pill, and NO, I didn't miss one.) But we were so ecstatically happy. I couldn't wait to get to the Dr Monday and find out exactly when my due date would be. I didn't expect to hear the heart beat and then when I got the ultrasound and the Dr. said, "It looks like you're having two babies." I said "Are you serious?!" Followed by, "Are they both alive?"

Baby A (the bottom one) was flipping and moving around and I could see it's heart beating whereas Baby B was pretty still. Turns out, it must be the relaxed one (and much smaller if I can judge by the picture) because the Dr. pulled up both their heartbeats and they seemed to be fine. They were both beating at 158, once the Dr quit focusing on only one baby, Baby B started doing the flipping and moving around.

Once we confirmed they're both alive, I kept saying, "I thought I was bigger than I should be!" And it's true. One of my friend's is 11 weeks along so we keep talking to each other about how fat we feel. I told her I bet I was further along than I thought because I feel big already. But the Dr pointed out it's cause there's two! (And no, twins do not run in my family, so this was an unexpected, nice surprise.)

My Dr. couldn't get a good measurement because they're both so squished so I have another ultrasound today with the radiology department so the can hopefully help determine the baby's size and a better due date. Right now my tentative one is Feb 15th, but since I'm most likely more than 9 weeks along, it's probably closer to January 31st.

The funny thing is, I used to always say I wanted twins, just not before I have one baby so I could practice with just one first.

I'm so excited for this wonderful, crazy, unexpected adventure!

Uncharted TerriTORI

Saturday morning, I frantically searched for a book to buy. I knew we were arriving at the wedding pretty early so Boyfriend could make sure his DJ gear was all set up. Even though Target has a decent selection of books, I had no idea which one to buy and I was kind of pressed for time so I settled on Uncharted TerriTORI.

The book itself was an easy read; I finished it by Sunday morning. I was a bit disappointed that I spent $17 on a book that I finished in two days. The book was basically about stuff shown in the last season of Tori & Dean but a little more in depth. It actually went into her reconciliation with her mother. Overall, I'd recommend you get the book from the library and not spend money on it.

Weekend Wrap Up

My weekend was fun, and probably the last calm one until September. Remember when I mentioned I had a wedding to attend in July? It happened and this is what I ended up wearing:
My Target tube dress with a black cardigan. I ended up getting a lot of complements and I stayed decently cool (we finally had nice weather!) except I got bitten by a bunch of mosquitos, either thorough the dress or the little buggers went up it to bit my legs.

The wedding was really fun. It was in a barn but it was a really cool set up. It was an old barn, with a cement floor, but that's really all that was barn-ish about it. There were no stables, instead it had a little room for the bride, and bathrooms. There was (obviously) electricty. But the best part about it were the details. My coworker has an amazing eye for detail. Her colors were brown with bright blue and bright green accents. So on hanging from the rafters of the barn, she'd hung all kinds of cream, and blue and green paper lanterns off-set by Christmas lights. The effect was very cute.

She'd hand painted signs that said "The Loo--->" and one with her and her husbands name, etc. In one corner there was a lounge area with bales of hay covered by burlap with short barrels for tables with a mirror top. The two big doors at each end swung open to revel the food on one end (amazingly delicious BBQ) and the grassy area where the ceremony took place. People kept commenting on the details and what an amazing job she did.

Sunday, B and I went to see Get Him to The Greek. You, know, that movie spun off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall? I expected a lot more. It was funny, but I expected almost a The Hangover level comedy and this was no where close. Maybe it's because I was exhausted and when I'm exhausted, nothing's very funny.

How was your weekend? Do anything exciting?

Remember How My Best Friend Broke Up With Me?

Now there's more to the story. I mentioned months ago, that my best friend broke up with me but had recently texted me telling me he missed me.

Nothing really came of it. We ran into each other at Emerald Downs, our local horse track. And then a month or so later at a local bar. He wanted to talk, I wasn't interested, I had just shown up for a friend's birthday. Seriously, let me enjoy my friends first.

So the weekend before last, I had a missed text from him it basically said "sissy I miss you so much i wish you would talk to me I pray that you're doing good, I want nothing but the best for you." Blah Blah Blah.

Once my phone was charged, I texted him telling him I would talk to him but he's the one who decided not to be friends with me so he should be the one making all the effort. He said he understood so you'd think he'd try texting or calling over the next few days to repair our friendship.
So then a few days later when I'm listening to all 4297310 of my messages (I'm so bad about checking them!) I have a call from him from that night too. At 3am. He basically cried to me and told me he wishes I would talk to him, he misses me so much and yeah he's drunk but he feels the same way when he's sober and more blah blah blahing, I saved it telling myself I'd listen to the rest later.

Tuesday, (a whole week and a half after he should have been making the effort) I had a missed call from him and then a text saying he needed me to call him as soon as I can. I texted that I'm at work and call me after 4:30. He couldn't wait and replied back that he's getting MARIIED, and what do I think?
Wait. What?

Granted, he's almost 29, he's wanted a wife and a family for awhile, he's a grown man and can do whatever he wants, but why is he texting me after 8 months asking for my opinion?

Because he's never been able to make a major decision without me. All his texts were trying to convince me it's the right thing to do, I was just trying to find out more info: who are you marrying? How long have you been together? Do you love her?

He finally told me I wasn't telling him what he wanted to hear. I explained that I'm completely in the dark and need more info before I can give him my honest opinion, plus, I'm at work and needed to keep this short.

He told me my opinion is really important to him. I told him to call me at 4:30 to which he agreed.

At 9:30, he finally called. We talked about the situation to which I told him: If he's getting married because he hates being alone and just wants a wife/family, that's not fair to himself or to her, but with that being said, he sounds really happy so if he loves her and thinks they will have a successful marriage, go for it.

He said he's going to do it this weekend, and he just got home so he'd call me tomorrow to talk some more.

Well okay then. I still haven't heard from him (big surprise) but I'm a little frustrated by the situation. Not once did he ask me about myself or ask how I've been doing. Now, I didn't want to talk only about me but if he could have feigned some sort of interest, I would have been happy. I don't want a one-sided friendship. I don't have a lot of friends for this very reason. The few I have are good people and good friends.

I feel like if he really missed me and missed our friendship, he would be putting in more effort. He would have been showing me that I really am important to him rather than just getting what he wanted and then getting off the phone.

I think after Tuesday, I have no interest in trying to rebuild our friendship. What do you think? Was I over-reacting?

I'm Getting Pretty Tired of This Crap

Some new people moved into the building next to us. With them, came two yapping dogs. I understand you cannot always control what your animals do, but when your dog is barking do not leave them out on the deck for 15 more minutes!

The first time I hear Teddy bark, he comes inside. I'm hoping he has learned that if he wants to stay outside, he has to be quiet. Obviously, these people do not share the same theory.

These are not any ordinary barking dogs, they bark the minute I shut my car door, or the minute I start walking up the stairs to my second-floor apartment, and they're not even in my building! These dogs bark at any little sound and continuously bark for at least 15 minutes afterward. It wouldn't be so bad if they were barking from in their apartment, but they  run out onto their balcony, shove their noses in between the slats of the balcony and just bark and bark. They bark at 7am in the morning, they bark at 9:15 at night when B and I are trying to watch a movie, and they especially bark when Roomate goes out onto her little balcony to smoke.

I've already had neighbor drama and I have had it. How can these people not realize their dogs are disrupting everyone around them, and if they know, how can they just not care?

If this keeps up, I'm going to put a note on their door that reads:

B told me using the word refrain sounded kind of rude, what I wanted to say was:
I think the second note sounds worse. and I don't care if using the word refrain makes me sound mad, between the dogs and this bird that wakes me up at 4 am (a whole other story) I can hardly sleep!

4th of July

My life has become pretty boring recently. Compared to last summer where Boyfriend and I were going to shows and stuff, I don't really do anything anymore. I wish I could say I was busy being domestic but I'm not.

At all.

Boyfriend's softball team takes up a lot of time. He had a tournament this weekend so he played four games on Saturday and six games on Sunday. While he was at softball on Saturday, I got my hair cut. Nothing major, I  just haven't had my hair trimmed in 6 months.

Sunday, while Boyfriend was at Softball, I worked 10 hours. Oh joy. It wasn't too bad, actually, I'm used to working Holidays, and I got a Watermelon flavored Shaved Ice. Love those things!

After work, I went to B's and took a nap then we went to his friend's house. It's the same friends with this dog, except now they have two of them, they have Ozzie and his half-brother, Charlie.
Eventually, we decided to move all of our chairs from the back yard to the front yard for fireworks and boy did we have fireworks! One of our friend's kids spent $200 and the people whose house we were at spent $300, I think. We had all the normal things like Roman Candles and Bottle Rockets but then we had those mortar things that shoot in the air and actually explode into different colors like a big fireworks show would. The neighbors on each side had a pretty good show going too so we were entertained for hours.
B insisted on wearing this hat.He bought it for $1 at Target

At one point, a cop did stop by and tell us one of the neighbors called 911 to complain about the fireworks being too loud, and then his response was, "I's Fourth of July. But I have to respond to the call. Just be safe." Overall, it was a pretty fun night although I was exhausted.

Yesterday, we had Thai food with B's mom. I really like his whole family, but it was nice for us to spend time with just his mom for once. And the food was really good (you just never know with Thai, I've had really good, and really bad.)

What about you? What did you do?

Are You Kidding Me?!

I've been trying to eat healthier these days. I'd decided to give up all alcohol from June 1st to July 1st and other than the slip-up of one beer, I've done really well. I don't miss it at all, so I'm going to keep at it. I've fallen off the workout wagon though. I don't sleep well so I've been too tired to get up and work out at 6am. Back to healthy food. The other day I went to the store for string cheese and peanut m&ms (hey, they have peanuts, they're healthy - right?) but I ran across these:
Really crappy picture, but I had to make it bigger so you could tell what they are...sorry

Are you kidding me?! These are so gonna ruin my "diet." If you like Girl Scout Samoa's you'll love these. They're pretty much the same. The funny thing is, I don't even like coconut. I don't drink piƱa coladas, Mounds and Almond Joys are disgusting, I don't even like coconut on cupcakes but I love Samoas, and I love these. Oh no, I taste trouble.
