For the Love of Vintage!

I received this purse from ebay over the weekend:

It's a 1950's (?) vintage, and I looooove the color.  I especially like the contrast between the mocha on the outside and the champagne (that's what I'm calling it) on the inside:

The clasp is real hardy too which is nice since I have another "designer" clutch with a loose clasp so I can't even use it! Now I just need to find the perfect dress to go with it :)

Must...have....this...stool...

Okay, there's not really any more room in our living room, and I don't think the couch would look that great with this footstool anyway, but the roomie and I found this at Target over the weekend and I fell in love. I haven't done much with my bedroom yet, so maybe I'll get it and put it up there :)

Plan of Attack

My apartment is lacking. We have the basics: a couch, chair and TV. But we're pretty much lacking everything that gives my apartment style. The couch and chair I got on Craigslist for such a good deal, the pillows on the couch probably won't stay, but we needed something in the room. For some reason, the people who designed the apartment decided not to give us any lighting or storage space so we're in desperate need of lamps and storage space (and then everything will finally be out from under the stairs.)

The good news is, we decided to decorate our living room with an old, 50's glamour feel. No, not scalloped chaises and quilted chairs, but our accessories will hopefully be a modern take on 50's glamour. We were inspired by the Marilyn picture that's going to hang over the TV. What would you do with this space?

Completely Undomesticated

I'm not what you'd call....domestic. Not in the least. I can't cook, in fact, I remember telling my dad "What kind of a wife will I make when I can't cook for my husband and kids?" His response? "Wow, I'm glad you're so progressive." It's not about being progressive, I want to learn to cook so I can take care of my (future) husband and kids. Or even just take care of myself and make more than top ramen or bagel bites (last night's dinner.) I remember being so jealous when and ex said about a friend's girlfriend "She makes good food." I want to make good food damnit.

So here I am, 26, I just moved into my first apartment where I can decorate the way I (my roomate & I) want to and don't have to decorate-with-what-we-have- 'cause-I'm-just-a-poor-college-kid. So this is my foray into being domestic. I want to learn to cook, I want to learn design tricks, and fashion tricks and somehow I think my addiction to ebay will come into play too. I'm going to be domestic even if it kills me.
